That was then, this is now.

Seeing as how Stu has shared with us his experiences in his last poker tournament of 2013 (over here), I thought I’d do the same.

On Boxing Day afternoon, my son and I played some three handed games with my daughter, who was visiting for the day. We are all competitive types, so the fact that there was no money involved was irrelevant. Bragging rights are everything. So we got out some cards and some chips and played ourselves a little HORSE tournament.

The results aren’t important. Well they would have been if I’d won, but that luckbox daughter of mine hit every possible card and wiped the floor with us both.

So we continued with a much more important game: Open Face Chinese Poker (1-6 version). Here my natural talent shone through and I was able to score an important victory. The fact that we weren’t playing for money also made it the most profitable live game of 2013 for me!

But, that was then, this is now. In 2014 I’m going to play more live poker and I’m going to make an actual profit at least once. A stretch target of making an overall annual profit at the live games can wait for another year.

Lol, glad to hear that you enjoyed some family time at Christmas and found the time to fit some poker in one way or another.

Hope that you have a very successful year both in poker and everything else you do πŸ™‚
